FLOWERS

        

The flowers we use predominately on our cakes are handmade by us, petal by petal. They are made from sugars and other edible ingredients, some have hardeners in them so even though they are made from edible products some of them would not taste very good. These flowers are made from a product called gumpaste. The main ingredients being icing sugar. Some of these flowers are wired to put into bouquets and posies. These flowers are coloured and painted with food colour to match the colours of the wedding, or the favorite colour of the recipient.

Other flowers are made completely of edible in fortified fondant, a small amount of hardener is added to the fondant but not enough to change to taste. This is especially important when there may be small children attending who might decide to taste a flower or other decoration from the cake when nobody is looking.

We also use silk flowers as well as live flowers which have been organically grown. The following are some examples of the arrangements of sugar flowers we have made for our cakes.
